When
the collection process is finalised, the crop washing is performed.
In this operation, tiger nuts loose their roots, their skin is cleaned
and "failed" tubers. Tiger nuts are deposited in a vegetable
patch of the laundry.
With
the tractor shovel, they are situated in a hopper, which unloads
the crop above a transporting band, which ends in a drum-siever
where the soil is separated from rest of materials. From the drum
it passes to a second drum formed by two concentric elements where
straw and big rocks are separated.
Then,
a third drum eliminates the hair from the tiger nut. A shower situated
on the central axes wets them. After that, it passes trough waterways
where there are different water exits, that separate gravel and
tiger nut, and finish its cleaning.
