PLANTATION
Tiger nut is planted in April and May, date that comes conditioned
by the previous cultivation. Previously to the plantation, a succession
of preparatory labours of the terrain is make, with the purpose
of that terrain become spongy, very detached and good balanced.
The plantation is carried out by entirely mechanical procedures,
in ridges that have 20 cm of height and a separation of 60 cm. The
depth of the plantation is from 4 to 5 cm. The sowing density is
an important aspect of the cultivation, because efficiency and quality
of the tuber depend very much on it. This is high, requiring the
order of 10 or 12 Kg of tiger nut for each 1.58 bushels.
